Lumen Productions is happy to announce North American distribution for the first installment of the documentary trilogy AFTER: POETRY DESTROYS SILENCE.
Grasshopper Films (www.grasshopperfilm.com) is the North American distributor for Non-Theatrical and Digital distribution. Grasshopper, a distribution company dedicated to the release of independent, foreign, and documentary films, was founded in December 2015 by Ryan Krivoshey.
The deal was negotiated by Ryan Krivoshey for Grasshopper and Oliver Mahrdt for Lumen Productions.
AFTER: POETRY DESTROYS SILENCE, the first of its kind, where poetry and cinema combine and transcend, is an exploration of poetry written about the Shoah.
Directed by Richard Kroehling, produced by Richard Kroehling and Janet R. Kirchheimer, executive produced by Oliver Mahrdt, the film stars Academy Award winner Melissa Leo, Géza Röhrig, and Bo Corre, along with renowned poets, including Edward Hirsch and Cornelius Eady.
In AFTER, contemporary poets respond to the Holocaust and discuss the importance and necessity for poetry in a world that still grapples with genocide. Rather than seeing the devastation, AFTER shows how poets respond to catastrophe and write in its aftermath. The film is ultimately about human resilience, the power and courage to forge new lives, and the value of poetry in looking to the past to help create a better future.
